Extra virgin olive oil benefits

There is a big dilemma between whether consuming some fats the question relies on if olive oil is good for your health or not, and what are the best options to have a healthier lifestyle. In my family we have been cooking with extra virgin olive oil for years and we have noticed great improvements in our health.

Extra virgin olive oil is one of the healthiest options , the name “extra virgin” is because no other product are added in its processing, that is, it does not have colorings or preservatives that alter its flavor, its properties or its purity.

And although it is almost 100% fat,  this one is not  a harmful  product because it contains monounsaturated and unsaturated fats, in fact it  does not contribute to increased cholesterol.

On the other hand, it contains omega 3 fatty acids, which are not produced by our body, as well as polyphenols and vitamin E; and a compound called oleocanthal, only present in extra virgin olive oil.

It helps you lose weight

Many healthy diets use extra virgin olive oil, even in Mediterranean dishes  it is one of the key ingredients, however it should be consumed in moderation as it can have laxative effects.

Good for mild inflammation

Due to its oleocanthal content, olive oil has a certain anti-inflammatory action. Therefore, it could help reduce pain associated with joints and muscles.

Ideal for those with diabetes

In a study published by the scientific journal Diabetes Care, it was revealed that any Mediterranean diet that includes this fat is capable of reducing cases of type II diabetes by up to 50%.

This is because it contains healthy fats that can help regulate blood sugar levels and insulin production.

Is a natural skin moisturizer

It is often said that one of the best natural moisturizers for the skin is olive oil. For this reason, those who use it on their skin say that using it regularly helps to  manage and  to nourish the skin very deeply and also helps to  soften it, without promoting sebum production. One aspect we need to considerate is the application , the oil should be applied only  for a short period of time and then rinse it off, there is no need to leave it on all they long , it needs to be rinsed. This study shows the potential of olive oil to improve skin hydration and elasticity in volunteers.

Would you use it for this purpose?

And if you have, tell me  has it worked for you?
